The chamber ensemble, Dudok Quartet, plays to a delighted audience. In the background an elegant 19th century villa, embraced by an array of splendid natural beauty. A man selling ice cream, tasty sandwiches being prepared by the cooks assistant, for as you can see he was more interested in listening to the music,(check him out, he is propped against the front pole of the small tent). This scene was hard to pass up for il pittore, who was taking part in a local painters festival, which took place in the fertile Marialust Park, in Apeldoorn. I was told there would be a performance of classical music, coming from the large party tent, thus, one and a half hours before the concert started, I began working on this painting. The pre-work paid off, as when the crowds gathered, it became a matter of working them into the already painted-in composition. This technique is commonly referred to as wet-on-wet, fresh paint applied to non dry paint. Yes folks, I don't call my blog, 'Wet Paintings from The Lowlands' for nothing.

Welcome back to all you that were on vacation. As you can see, provided the right conditions, you have all the wonders of Natures' beauty, right at your doorstep (that is provided you live in The Lowlands!). So next year, get yourself a good pair of hiking shoes, or a decent touring bicycle (feits in Dutch), and enjoy what beauty that can befall your eyes, right here in Holland. Of course the food is not as good and affordable as you could find in Italy or France. However, when your camping, or staying at a bungalow park, along the North Sea coast, with a bit of creativity and the right ingredients, you can easily cook up a tasty pasta dish. Back to the painting, bright sunny day with scrumptious fluffy clouds, casting shadows, creating the right contrasts, in order for you the viewer to easily digest this colorful visual display, on a splendid summers day. André Klompmakers versterkt Mainport Netwerk

Ballet, koeien en voetbal zijn favoriete onderwerpen van het nieuwste lid van het Mainport Art Netwerk, André Klompmakers. Deze onderwerpen worden in felle kleuren weergegeven waarbij we een zekere mate van abstractie waar kunnen nemen. De website van André is http://www.andre-klompmakers.exposeert.com/

Open Art Fair in Utrecht

Van 8 tot en met 12 september wordt in Utrecht de kunstbeurs Open Art Fair georganiseerd. Galeries uit binnen- en buitenland laten de meest uiteenlopende vormen van hedendaagse kunst zien. Dit jaar krijgt de Open Art Fair een bijzonder accent door een tentoonstelling van circa 50 beelden en gouaches van de beeldhouwer Kees Verkade. Op http://www.openartfair.nl/ is gedetailleerde informatie over de kunstbeurs te vinden. De foto toont een bronzen beeld van Kees Verkade. Als u lid bent van de Nationale Associatie voor Beeldend Kunstenaars dan kunt u gratis twee toegangskaarten krijgen.

Scheringa-collectie in boekvorm verschenen

Kort na de sluiting van het Scheringa Museum voor Realisme in Spanbroek heeft Mainport Art Productions de directeur kunstzaken van het museum, Belia van der Giessen, aangeboden om gratis de totale collectie op een website te zetten. Op die wijze zou het publiek in de gelegenheid worden gesteld toch van de in beslaggenomen schilderijen en beelden te genieten. Van der Giessen liet weten het aanbod te waarderen, maar auteursrechtelijke zaken zouden vooralsnog een obstakel vormen. Bij uitgeverij d'jonge Hond is onlangs het boek 'Nieuw Realisme - 159 kunstwerken uit de collectie van het voormalige Scheringa Museum voor Realisme' verschenen. Dit werd mogelijk doordat de rechthebbenden voor het boek afstand van hun rechten hebben gedaan. Het is een prachtig boek geworden, dat in de boekenkast van liefhebbers van realistische kunst niet mag ontbreken.

Here I am, back in the Lowlands, visiting what now has become my painters paradise, here on planet Earth. And why shouldn't it be? Racing clouds, ship shafting before my very eyes, forming unimaginable shapes. Hues on the sea, dancing around like some drunken old time hip hop babe. Sailboats parading up and down the coast, as if walking the catwalk in the extravagant Paris Hilton. Yes folks, if your not a seasoned outdoor painter, don't even think about setting up on this neck of the woods. The visuals will tear you inside out. Me, I just love it. The faster things change before my eyes, the easier it is to paint. Actually what drives me up the wall is static objects. Take buildings for example, e-e-each! What nothing changes, .... Christ were do I begin? Thank God for the shifting light conditions, that is, if the Sun is shinning. Well, I might have gone overboard on this description! Oh well, just take in a deep breath, have a look, and inhale those salty fragrances from these frigged waters, and feel that grandeur and sublimity?

Kunstweek 2010

In de Kunstweek, die dit jaar van 6 t/m 14 november wordt gehouden, staat beeldende kunst in heel Nederland nadrukkelijk in de belangstelling.
Galeries, kunstuitleenorganisaties, lijstenmakerijen, kunstmusea en ateliers in het hele land nemen aan de Kunstweek 2010 deel. Bij de musea krijgt u bij een bezoek tijdens de openingsdag van de Kunstweek het dit jaar wel heel mooie en praktische 'Kunstweek Geschenk’. Voor galeries en uitleenorganisatie geldt dat u de gehele week het geschenk kunt krijgen. Wees er echter wel snel bij, want op=op. Dit jaar is het Kunstweek Geschenk het Jaarboek Beeldend Kunstenaars 2011. Het lijvige boek biedt een overzicht van werken van 250 à 300 Nederlandse beeldend kunstenaars. Welke galeries er ondermeer aan de Kunstweek deelnemen is te zien op https://www.kunstweek.nl/programma2.asp. De lijst wordt voortdurend geactualiseerd.

Weer een land in het netwerk: Nieuw lid Luis Durand uit Peru

Het aantal landen waar we deelnemers aan het Mainport Netwerk terugvinden groeit nog steeds. Vandaag mogen we fotograaf Luis Durand verwelkomen. Zijn werk is gebaseerd op de rijke geschiedenis van Peru. Het gebruik van kleuren is voor ons wat opmerkelijk maar voor plaatselijke begrippen normaal. Men is gek op het gebruik van kleur.
